During Fiscal Year 2013, EDA invested $2,366,100 in four projects in the State of New Hampshire. These projects are expected to create or retain 206 jobs and leverage $1,500,000 in private investment according to grantee estimates. EDA’s investments help New Hampshire communities achieve bottom-up, locally-defined economic development goals and strategies.

EDA offers a complementary, balanced portfolio of grant programs designed to help rural and urban communities grow their private sectors and create jobs.

Investment Spotlight: Crossroads Industrial Park

In 2012, two major employers in the City of Rochester closed their operations, resulting in the loss of 300 manufacturing and 115 information technology jobs, a potentially devastating loss to the city’s nearly 30,000 residents.  Determined to ensure a fast economic recovery, the city sought to capitalize on two opportunities for job creation: the potential expansion of a local food product manufacturer and the development of a new industrial park.

While both of the projects would create additional jobs to off-set recent losses, both opportunities required access to public water and sewer service which was not available in that area of the community.  The approximately $3.9 million cost of constructing the required infrastructure was beyond the city’s resources.

In July 2013, EDA provided a $1.9 million award to support the construction of water and sewer infrastructure to extend service to the Crossroads Industrial Park and the Rochester Marketplace in Strafford County.  This investment is not only expected to create up to 130 full-time jobs, but will also serve as a catalyst for further expansion, business development and job creation in the industrial park and Market Basket Plaza.
