Summary:
The pandemic left Birmingham’s healthcare workforce depleted and its economy vulnerable to the next public health crisis. With demand from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, Children’s of Alabama, Ascension, and other leading employers, Birmingham will build a pipeline of skilled healthcare and digital health workers through its new Birmingham Region Health Partnership. This partnership will provide marginalized communities with pathways into high-quality healthcare jobs, with a focus on people of color who have been historically excluded from high-paying healthcare job opportunities. One of the city’s key partners is the Women’s Foundation of Alabama, which will work in partnership with training providers and employers to provide women with the services and support they need to complete training and be placed into quality healthcare careers.
