U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.5 Million for Water Infrastructure Improvements to Support Aluminum Manufacturing Industry in Bay Minette, Alabama

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.5 million grant to North Baldwin Utilities in Bay Minette, Alabama, for water infrastructure upgrades to support a new aluminum manufacturing facility and create jobs in the region.

EDA Leadership Meets With Native Community Development Coalition Members in South Dakota

This spring, Dennis Alvord, EDA’s Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) for Economic Development and Chief Operating Officer, visited Rapid City, South Dakota. He met with members of the Mountain Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition (Mountain Plains), led by the Four Bands Community Fund. In 2022, Mountain Plains received a $45 million EDA award as part of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge (BBBRC).

U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $4 Million to Support Cargo Handling Upgrades at Port of Oswego, New York

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $4 million grant to the Port of Oswego in Oswego, New York. The port will be able to acquire new cargo handling equipment and support rail infrastructure improvements needed to increase export capacity and bolster access to global markets for local business.
