U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2 Million in American Rescue Plan Funds to Diversify and Grow Morgantown, West Virginia’s Economy

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina M. Raimondo announced the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding its first local investment as part of the Coal Communities Commitment to the Morgantown Utility Board in Morgantown, W.Va. The $2 million American Rescue Plan grant will help  create 300 jobs and generate $250 million in private investment to build a new  beverage processing and packaging facility in the Morgantown Industrial Park.

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $840,400 CARES Act Recovery Assistance grant to Alameda County, California, to support recovery of the region’s economy by providing technical assistance and other resources to small and medium-sized businesses. This EDA grant will be matched with $840,400 in local investment.
