U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.8 Million to Support Manufacturing in Dorchester County

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $1.8 million grant to Dorchester County, South Carolina, to construct a new elevated storage tank that will serve a new foreign-owned aluminum manufacturing facility and other local businesses. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 109 jobs, and generate $42.4 million in private investment.
“The Trump Administration is committed to accelerating economic growth and developing American infrastructure,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “I look forward to seeing how the new tank will help aid the local manufacturing sector.”
The construction project is for a foreign direct investment establishing its first manufacturing facility producing aluminum cast products located in the United States. The firm’s products will serve both domestic and foreign markets.
