U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.8 Million to Support Business Development in Port of Chehalis, Washington

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.8 million grant to the Port of Chehalis, Washington, to develop a rail-served industrial park. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 100 new jobs and generate $40 million in private investment.
“The President and his Administration have highlighted the desperate need to invest in infrastructure developments in communities across the United States,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “The new Port of Chehalis’ industrial park will help attract new businesses to the community and provide further opportunities to the thousands of Americans living in the region.”
The project supports site work at the rail-served industrial park, which sits along I-5 corridor. Completion of the project is expected to attract new firms to the region, creating more employment opportunities for the local workforce.
