U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $3 Million to Support Industrial Expansion in Tennessee


WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding $3 million in investments to support industrial expansion in two communities in Tennessee.

“The Trump Administration is committed to supporting local efforts to expand and attract industrial development,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “I look forward to seeing how these projects will improve the local infrastructure in Dayton and Humboldt as well as provide new opportunities to the thousands of Americans living in these communities.”

The grants announced today include:

  • $1.5 million grant to the city of Dayton, Tennessee, to make electrical transmission infrastructure improvements to serve industry looking to expand operations in the North Dayton Industrial Park. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create or retain 1,775 jobs and generate $58 million in private investment.
  • $1.5 million grant to city of Humboldt, Tennessee, to make critical upgrades to the city’s existing wastewater treatment plant to accommodate the expansion of existing industries and accommodate future business needs. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 170 jobs and spur $33 million in private investment.
