U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.4 Million to Make Roadway Infrastructure Improvements Needed to Support Business Growth in Weed??

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross today announced that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.4 million grant to the city of Weed, California, to make critical roadway infrastructure improvements needed to support business and job growth in the region. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 80 new jobs and generate $12 million in private investment.
“Throughout his tenure in office, the President has highlighted the vital task of rebuilding crumbling American infrastructure,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “I look forward to seeing how these roadway infrastructure improvements will help drive new opportunities to the City of Weed, California.”
The investment supports the Vista Drive roadway and facilities infrastructure improvement project. This project will construct a new roadway and make additional infrastructure improvements to increase access to a commercial zone. The upgraded transportation assets will enable businesses in the region to operate more efficiently, fostering the conditions to support the creation of new jobs.
