U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $2.5 Million to Make Critical Water Infrastructure Improvements Needed to Serve Businesses in Leipsic Village

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced today that the Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $2.5 million grant to the Village of Leipsic, Ohio, to make water infrastructure improvements needed to support business expansion efforts. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 80 jobs, retain 357 jobs, and generate $400 million in private investment.

“President Trump has been clear about the urgent need to fix and upgrade American infrastructure from coast to coast,” said Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. “Due to the leadership of those in Leipsic, through this project local businesses will have further opportunities to grow and thrive.”

The project includes the construction of a new raw water intake structure, new raw water pump station, and 3,300 lineal feet of new 24-inch raw water transmission main. The project supports the expansion of an existing industry. In addition, the project will provide the necessary raw water to allow the Village to attract new industries to its 80-acre Jobs Ready Industrial Park site.
