U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $800,000 to Improve Airport Infrastructure in New Mexico

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) is awarding a $800,000 grant to the City of Roswell, New Mexico, to renovate an existing airport hangar facility to facilitate numerous business expansions. According to grantee estimates, the project is expected to create 30 new jobs.
“We commend the City of Roswell for working to spur economic opportunities through infrastructure improvements,” said Deputy Assistant Secretary for Regional Affairs Dennis Alvord. “The renovated airport hangar will support the growth and expansion of the area’s aviation industry.”
This project will support the renovation of an airport hangar facility that serves the aviation maintenance, repair and overhaul sector. This project was made possible by the regional planning efforts led by the Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District. EDA funds the Southeastern New Mexico Economic Development District to bring together the public and private sectors to create an economic development roadmap to strengthen the regional economy, support private capital investment and create jobs.
