In order to spur innovation in USC's cluster areas (aligned with SC Department of Commerce key industry cluster areas), this grant funds the USC Innovation Center Clusters to focus on two key objectives: 1) helping innovators understand customer’s needs through customer discovery and 2) providing a model (i.e. Lean Launchpad) to articulate those needs into a business opportunity. Actual activities under this University Center grant include: 1) providing education, 2) putting on events and workforce trainings, 3) facilitating startups, 4) facilitating partnerships with industry, and 5) spurring innovation through access to federal, state and private funding.
