Virginia Tech’s Office of Economic Development (OED), in partnership with the Center for Enterprise Innovation (CEI) at Old Dominion University (ODU), is implementing the Virginia Regional Competitiveness Project (VRCP), as a multi-institution Economic Development Administration (EDA) University Centers (UC) Program. The VRCP will strengthen regional economic ecosystems and develop innovation infrastructure and support systems by enhancing connection and diversification through commercialization, talent development, and entrepreneurial support activities. The VRCP service area targets three Virginia regions: southwest Virginia, southern Virginia, and Hampton Roads (eastern Virginia). With VRCP as a focal point, VT and ODU are working in concert to strengthen regional innovation in southwest and southern Virginia as well as Hampton Roads, while continuing to singularly advance regional anchor institutions. The 5-year VRCP project will enhance the ability of these regions to be globally competitive, strengthen connections between regions and resources, and advance economic diversification.
