Administración Biden-Harris Anuncia 22 finalistas del Programa Piloto Recompete (Volver a Competir)

WASHINGTON, DC — La Administración Biden-Harris, a través de la Administración de Desarrollo Económico (EDA) del Departamento de Comercio de los Estados Unidos, anunció hoy los 22 finalistas del Programa Piloto de Recompete (Volver a Competir) de Áreas en Dificultades. Recompete se dirige a los más afectados y económicamente más necesitados en áreas donde el empleo en la edad óptima (25-54 años) es significativamente menor que el promedio nacional, con el objetivo de cerrar esta brecha a través de inversiones flexibles impulsadas localmente. El Presidente Biden destacará el anuncio durante un viaje a Milwaukee, donde anunciará que una propuesta para revitalizar e invertir en el corredor industrial de la Calle 30 de Milwaukee fue seleccionada como finalista de Recompete.

Biden-Harris Administration Announces 22 Recompete Pilot Program Finalists

WASHINGTON, DC — The Biden-Harris Administration, through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA), today will announce the 22 finalists of the Distressed Area Recompete Pilot Program (Recompete). Recompete targets the hardest-hit and most economically distressed areas where prime-age (25-54 years) employment is significantly lower than the national average, with the goal to close this gap through flexible, locally-driven investments. President Biden will highlight the announcement during a trip to Milwaukee, where he will announce that a proposal to revitalize and invest in Milwaukee’s 30th Street Industrial Corridor was selected as a Recompete Finalist.

EDA 2023: A Year of Impact

2023 was another year of tremendous impact and growth at the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA). Our dedicated team of public servants work tirelessly to improve the competitiveness of American industry through equitable and inclusive economic growth, a core priority of the Biden-Harris Administration. EDA’s efforts in 2023 resulted in approximately $403 million of federal investment in 584 projects, which are expected to support more than 27,000 quality jobs, and nearly $8.5 billion in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

U.S. Department of Commerce Announces 60 Recipients of ‘Build to Scale’ Program to Support Innovators, Entrepreneurs, and Startups Through Regional, Technology-Based Economic Development Strategies

WASHINGTON – Today, the U.S. Department of Commerce announced “Build to Scale” grants awarded to 60 organizations across the country — located in 36 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico — totaling $53 million for programs that support technology entrepreneurs, catalyze innovation, and fuel economic growth. This is the 10th cohort of grantees for this program.

WASHINGTON, DC — La administración Biden-Harris, a través de la Administración de Desarrollo Económico (EDA) del Departamento de Comercio de los Estados Unidos, anunció hoy la designación de 31 Tech Hubs en regiones de todo el país. Esta es la primera fase del nuevo programa Tech Hubs, que es una iniciativa de desarrollo económico diseñada para impulsar la innovación regional y la creación de empleo mediante el fortalecimiento de la capacidad de una región para fabricar, comercializar e implementar tecnología que mejorará la competitividad estadounidense. El programa invierte directamente en regiones florecientes y de alto potencial de Estados Unidos y apunta a transformarlas en centros de innovación globalmente competitivos.
