Wright State Applied Research Corporation (WSARC) will create the Dayton MedTech Nexus Initiative to accelerate medical technology startup’s timeline to funding and revenue by aligning the region’s healthcare specialization, defense research assets, and entrepreneurial ecosystems and by building new, medical technology commercialization pathways. The Dayton MedTech Nexus Initiative will advance this cluster by: 1) Breaking down silos to build a connected network of researchers, entrepreneurs, champions, mentors, investors, and resource providers. 2) Expanding a startup pipeline that deploys commercialization programming to strategic opportunities. 3) Creating regulatory strategy programming and prototype development funding opportunities that align with existing entrepreneurial support programs and 4) Creating infrastructure to match students with MedTech startups needing support. The success of this program will attract $19.7 million in investment into the MedTech community and create 76 new tech-enabled, high-growth startups by the end of the grant period.
