The Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) will launch the Cincinnati Children’s Impact Investment Fund (CCIIF) to increase access to early stage capital for emerging biomedical companies in the Greater Cincinnati Region. Over the past decade, CCHMC has made substantial contributions to the region’s economic and job growth, especially in the biomedical sector. The recent expansion of its commercialization unit, Innovation Ventures, is generating a greater volume of validated new product and startup venture concepts. At the same time, there is a growing interest from investors to align their investments with the child health mission. This is seen nationally, and internationally, as high net worth individuals increasingly look to achieve social impact with their investment dollars. This confluence of developments has created an opportunity for a new, social impact investment fund focused on child health. CCIIF intends to harness the CCHMC brand and mission to channel investments towards biomedical innovations and new ventures, anticipating by 2022 to attract 10 new entrepreneurs, create 100 new jobs, and launch 7 new products.
