VertueLab Impact Fund
Portland, OR
Seed Fund Support
$
Federal Share: $300,000.00
Local Match: $300,000.00

VertueLab is launching the VertueLab Impact Fund, an unconventional seed fund for an uncommonly complex and important challenge. The Fund focuses exclusively on cleantech innovations that will speed our transition to a sustainable and low-carbon economy in the face of population growth, rapid urbanization, and climate change. It fills a capital gap for cleantech innovations in the Northwest region and its launch will be instrumental in underpinning VertueLab’s regional expansion beyond its current Oregon operations. Cleantech innovations are not only positive for the environment, they also create a wide range of jobs including manufacturing, middle-income, and rural jobs. Capital is sourced from catalytic “impact investors” (individuals, foundations, corporations) who are willing to provide below-market-rate patient capital in exchange for the impact they seek. Over 5 years, VertueLab expects the Fund to invest in over 25 startups that receive over $60M of follow-on capital and create over 200 jobs.
