Status Update on EDA’s American Rescue Plan Programs

Due to the high volume of applications and interest EDA has received for its six American Rescue Plan programs, EDA would like to provide a status update on its $3 billion American Rescue Plan Programs. EDA strongly recommends any entities actively working on an application to contact their local Economic Development Representative (EDR) to discuss their region s availability of funds.

EDA Seeks Proposals to Lead Long-Term Community of Practice for ‘Build Back Better Regional Challenge’ Finalists

EDA is building a long-term Community of Practice for the 60 “Build Back Better Regional Challenge” (BBBRC) finalists. As part of this effort, EDA is now accepting applications for an organization to lead an action-oriented, four-year Community of Practice that incentivizes regional coalition members to execute their bold regional economic development goals.

EDA Announces Build Back Better Community of Practice Grant to a Partnership of the National League of Cities, America Achieves, Drexel University, and the Federation of American Scientists

In December 2021, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo announced the 60 finalists of the Economic Development Administration’s (EDA) Build Back Better Regional Challenge. The transformative, $1 billion investment in American innovation aims to develop and strengthen regional industry clusters across the country, all while embracing economic equity, creating good-paying jobs, and enhancing U.S. competitiveness globally.

Success Story: University of Texas at Austin & True Wealth Ventures Partner to Help Female-Founded Startups Access Elusive Venture Dollars

Recent research in the high tech entrepreneurship world finds companies that are most inclusive of women in top governing positions traditionally outperform other companies with less diversity, demonstrating 35% higher return on equity and 34% better total returns. Yet, only 2.19% of total global venture dollars are going to female-founded startups, despite the workforce being comprised of 50% female, and 36% of small businesses (PDF) being owned by females.
