U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gary Locke Announces $2 Million Investment to Create Jobs, Strengthen Economy in Chambers County, Alabama

EDA Grant Expected to Create 884 Jobs and Generate$130 Million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $2 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) investment to Chambers County, Ala., to make sewage system infrastructure improvements to serve the Cussetta Industrial Park. The project is expected to create 884 jobs and generate more than $130 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our Nation's competitiveness," said Locke. "This EDA investment in Chambers County will help enhance the region's automotive industry cluster by building the critical infrastructure needed to boost business expansion plans and attract new industry and jobs."
