U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $579,000 to Create Jobs, Strengthen Economy in Parkston, South Dakota

WASHINGTON - The U.S. Commerce Department's Economic Development Administration (EDA) today announced a $579,000 grant to the city of Parkston and Planning & Development District III of Yankton, S.D., to make sewer infrastructure improvements needed to protect the Parkston business community from future flood events.

"The Economic Development Administration is pleased to partner with Parkston and Planning & Development District III to boost business development and job growth," said Sandra R. Walters, EDA Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer. "This EDA investment will help make the vital infrastructure improvements needed to attract new industry to the region and to keep Parkston businesses open and people working in the event of future severe weather events."
