EDA Grant Expected to Create 900 Jobs and Generate $50 million in Private Investment

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke today announced a $4.2 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) investment to the city of Allegan, Mich., to help upgrade and expand the city's water treatment capacity to serve an expanding cluster of pharmaceutical manufacturers and other future business needs. The project is expected to create 900 jobs and generate $50 million in private investment, according to grantee estimates.

"The Obama Administration is committed to creating jobs, encouraging innovation and improving our nation's economic competitiveness," Locke said. "This grant will create jobs and provide the critical infrastructure needed to help Allegan continue to attract high-tech manufacturers and other businesses."
