U.S. Department of Commerce Invests $1.4 Million to Support Job Creation in Franklin Township, N.J.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Commerce Secretary John Bryson today announced a $1.45 million Economic Development Administration (EDA) investment to Franklin Township, New Jersey, to help rebuild a former 30-acre brownfield site to establish a food business park. The investment is expected to create more than 400 jobs and generate approximately $46 million in private investment over the next five years.

"This $1.45 million EDA investment in New Jersey is an example of the Administration's commitment to supporting local businesses grow and innovate," said Secretary Bryson. "The grant announced today will help ensure southern Gloucester County has the resources and infrastructure they need to create jobs."

The EDA investment is part of a project undertaken by Franklin Township to build a 30-acre business park in the southern portion of Gloucester County, N.J., on the remediated site of a former poultry processing plant. The new business park will allow for the construction of new, modern facilities that will enhance two industry clusters in the region-agriculture and food processing.
