Statement: Commemorating the International Economic Development Council’s 90th Anniversary and the Week of Economic Development
“Economic Development is the lifeblood that courses through the veins of communities across this country. For 90 years, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and its members have worked tirelessly to create economic opportunity and jobs in regions here at home and around the globe. At the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), we are proud of our strong partnership with the IEDC and of the important work we do together to institute the cutting-edge economic development programs, policies and tools our nation needs to be competitive in our ever-changing global economy.
“This week, EDA is pleased to join the IEDC to celebrate “Economic Development Week” and to help shine a bright spotlight on the Economic Development profession and the tremendous work that economic developers are doing to create a brighter future for the citizens of our nation. We congratulate the IEDC on 90 years of service to our communities and regions! We thank you for your partnership! And, we commend all of those involved in the humble but rewarding profession of economic development for your commitment and dedication.”
