Invitation: POWER Initiative Funding Opportunity

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Please join the Economic Development Administration (EDA) this Thursday, July 7th for a webinar discussion on the 2016 POWER Awards application process.

This webinar will provide an opportunity for potential applicants to hear directly from the EDA POWER Initiative coordinators. Join us to learn more about the program and the application process and to ask any questions.

Summary: The Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce and Economic Revitalization (POWER) Initiative is an integrated, multi-agency effort to align and invest federal economic and workforce development resources in communities and regions negatively impacted by changes in the coal economy.

The primary objectives of POWER grants are to invest in economic and workforce development projects and activities that will produce economic diversification, job creation, capital investment, and workforce development and reemployment opportunities, or any combination of these outcomes.

POWER prioritizes targeting federal resources to projects and activities that:

  • Will produce multiple economic and workforce development outcomes, such as promoting regional economic growth and diversification, new job creation, and re-employment opportunities for displaced coal economy workers; and
  • Are specifically identified under local and regional economic development plans that have been collaboratively produced by diverse local and regional stakeholders.
